The Columbus Football Organization will be accepting applications for flag football starting Jan. 16 until Feb. 11. Flag football is open to all boys and girls currently in grades K5 through fifth grade in the Columbus and Fall River area.

Players in K5 thru second grade will be playing on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Players in grades three through five will be playing on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. All games for players in K5 through fifth grade will be played in Fireman's Park.

Costs for this year's program will be $50 per player in grades K5 to two. The fee will cover both spring and fall flag football, an NFL Jersey and flags. Fees for third through fifth graders will be $35, and this includes an NFL jersey and flags.

Grades three through five is for spring football only due to tackle football being offered in the fall.

Applications will be available at the Columbus Middle School, Columbus Elementary School, St. Jerome's School and Zion Lutheran School and from Coach Jason Brunell, or by going to www.ColumbusFootball.net.

The meeting for all coaches will take place on March 21 at the Columbus Middle School at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., there will be a players meeting to handout schedules, team assignments, jerseys and flags.

Parents interested in coaching need to fill out the coaching information section on the application. The organization will be conducting background checks on all coaches for the protection of everyone involved.

The flag football program is run by the Columbus Football Organization in cooperation with the city recreation department.
